Curtis makes his mark at the Stihl World Champs

23 June 2023

On Friday 9 June, some of the best Rookie axemen from around the world converged on Rotterdam to compete in the 2023 Stihl Timbersports® World Championships. These included our very own Curtis Bennett.

Curtis didn't disappoint, soaring to an early lead on the world stage, but 18 year old Szymon Groenwald from Poland stepped up a gear to finish strong and post two WRs in the Single Buck and Underhand. Curtis and New Zealand's Sam Bellamy were the only two axemen in a position to threaten Szymon, but even despite a DQ in the Stock Saw the young Pole came out on top, with Curtis claiming silver.

At the champs Curtis broke the Australian Underhand and Stock Saw Rookie records, and posted PBs in the Single Buck and Spring Board.
